BanglayShikhi, a non-profit educational initiative dedicated to making quality technology education accessible in Bangla, successfully organised CEGIS Presents Future Data Analyst Challenge 2026 on 12 July 2026 at the Seminar Room of Academic Building-3, Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU).
The event brought together more than 100 undergraduate students for a hands-on data analytics competition designed to strengthen practical skills in data analysis, problem-solving, and data-driven decision-making. Using real-world datasets, participants applied Python-based tools and techniques to perform data cleaning, exploratory data analysis (EDA), data visualisation, and insight generation within a limited time. Outstanding performers were recognised with prizes, certificates, and commemorative awards during the closing ceremony.
The programme featured a keynote session by Riasad Amin, Hydrologist and Climate Change Expert at the Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS). He highlighted the increasing importance of data analytics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, and artificial intelligence in addressing real-world challenges. He encouraged students to develop practical analytical skills that will enable them to contribute to research, innovation, and evidence-based decision-making across different sectors.
Participants also attended an interactive career guidance session conducted by Nazmul Hasan Raju, Chief Executive Officer of CHS Education. He discussed higher education opportunities abroad, scholarship preparation, university application strategies, and the skills students should develop to build successful international academic and professional careers.
The programme was attended by Professor Dr. Md. Fazlul Karim, Director of the Students’ Welfare and Counselling Centre; Professor Dr. Monir Morshed, Proctor of MBSTU; and Professor Dr. Md. Delwar Jahan Maloy, Chairman of the Department of Statistics. Other distinguished guests included Professor Dr. Syed Mohibul Hossain, Assistant Professor Noor Muhammad Khan, Assistant Professor Arzo Ahmed, Assistant Professor Md. Hazrat Ali, Assistant Professor Md. Abul Hossain Mamun of the Department of Statistics, and Associate Professor Md. Shimul Sheikh of the Department of Environmental Science and Resource Management.
The programme was chaired by Md. Rashidul Islam Rifat, Founder of BanglayShikhi and an M.Sc. student in the Department of Statistics at MBSTU. Faculty members, students from different departments, invited guests, and members of the organising committee also attended the event.
The event was organised by BanglayShikhi’s eight-member core team under Rifat’s leadership. The organising committee included Md. Shehab Uddin Ikhtiyer (Director of Partnerships and Sponsorships), Md. Ontor (Director of Operations), Foysal Rahman Ovi (Director of Marketing and Communications), Farzana Yasmin (Director of Community Development), Tasnia Rahman Shefa (Director of Campus Relations), Maisha Hossain Niha (Director of Public Relations and Outreach), and Zakaria Mahmud Sourav (Director of Programmes and Competitions).
The Center for Environmental and Geographic Information Services (CEGIS) served as the Title Sponsor, while CHS Education joined as the Co-Sponsor. The programme was further supported by Ice Cream Station, NBICT Lab, TBS Graduates, Skin’O, PRAN, Joykali, Chobidyaloy, and Udvash–Unmesh–Uttoron Shikkha Poribar. Through initiatives such as the Future Data Analyst Challenge 2026, BanglayShikhi continues to promote data literacy, research, innovation, and industry-relevant skills among university students. By creating opportunities for hands-on learning and collaboration with academic institutions and industry partners, the organisation aims to prepare the next generation of data professionals for the rapidly evolving digital economy.
